Consultations up to give better wages in manufacturing industry: PM Harris

St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris socialised with workers in the manufacturing sector during the Cabinet's Industrial and Construction sites tour. The tour is a kind of a celebration of Team Unity government's five years anniversary in the office beginning in February 2015.

During the tour, Prime Minister stated that so far it has been great meeting and interacting with people associated with the industrial sector.

"Our priority is to assure the quality life of people in St Kitts and Nevis and nd the first start is to ensure that everyone is making an income whether through employment as those on the manufacturing are or through their enterprise and self-employment efforts.” added Prime Minister.

Prime Minister applauded the performance of individuals working in the manufacturing sector and quote factories like Kajola and their tremendous accomplishment on international levels.

Furthermore, the leader emphasised on the fact that the government have been making efforts to improve the work environment in the manufacturing sector.

PM Dr Timothy Harris stated that the cabinet is discussing subjects of providing better scale wages to employees and consultations with the minimum wage committee are undergoing.

Team Unity is celebrating its five years as the government of St Kitts and Nevis this month which will be followed by a series of events including Youth Forum on February 14; National Volunteer Day and Elderly Luncheon on February 15; Church Service in St. Kitts on February 16, and in Nevis on February 23 and National Health, S.T.E.P and Career Expo on February 21. A gospel concert is also scheduled for February 16.
