Antigua and Barbuda Queen of Carnival Pageant organizers revealed the ‘extraordinary seven’ delegates for this year’s prestigious competition

The Antigua and Barbuda Queen of Carnival Pageant organizers revealed the ‘extraordinary seven’ delegates for this year’s prestigious competition. These inspiring women, representing diverse professions, are all dedicated to making a positive impact.  The participants were revealed during the official launch of Antigua Carnival 2024. These seven delegates will be vying for the coveted title of Queen of Carnival 2024 on July 21, 2024 at the Antigua Recreation Ground. 

The seven contestants and their sponsors for the Queen of Carnival 2024 are as follows:

Shakkia Carlos Delegate #1 - Miss Arton Capital Desire Markham Delegate #2- Miss Rawdon and Associates Kevinya Joseph Delegate #3- Miss Cool and Smooth J’amalyn Stevens Delegate #4- Miss Kennedy’s Club Ltd. Shania Samuel Delegate #5- Miss Liat 2020 Dominique Trotman Delegate #6- Miss Antigua & Barbuda Port Authority Chandera Condrington Delegate #7- Miss Furniture Gallery The first contestant, Shakkia Carlos, is being sponsored by Arton Capital. She is 23 years old and hails from the village of English Harbour. She graduated from the Antigua State College-Advance Level Department and is presently a student at the University of the West Indies, Five Island Campus. She is studying Management with a Concentration in Tourism & Hospitality. [caption id="attachment_70761" align="aligncenter" width="333"] Shakkia Carlos Delegate #1 - Miss Arton Capital[/caption] 25-year-old Desrie Markhan, delegate number 2, is an Attorney at Law who was by the Antiguan and Barbudan Bar in December 2022. She is presently employed as a Crown Counsel II and has also earned the ‘Top Student’ award at the University of the West Indies Mona. [caption id="attachment_70763" align="aligncenter" width="331"] Desire Markham Delegate #2- Miss Rawdon and Associates[/caption] The third contestant, Kevinya Joseph, is a 26-year-old and holds a bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Management. She specialises in health care and stands as a testament to her commitment towards education and personal growth.  [caption id="attachment_70764" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Queen of Carnival Kevinya Joseph Delegate #3- Miss Cool and Smooth[/caption] J’amalyn Stevens is a 27-year-old dynamic young professional with a diverse skill set. She is the fourth contestant of the Queen of Carnival pageant and is a certified Yoga, Zumba, and fitness instructor, as well as the visionary behind ‘Resistatonez,’ an innovative fitness apparel brand. [caption id="attachment_70765" align="aligncenter" width="333"]Queen of Carnival J’amalyn Stevens Delegate #4- Miss Kennedy’s Club Ltd.[/caption] The fifth contestant, Shania Samuel, 24, is a police constable within the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. She hails from the village of All Saints. She aims to inspire and encourage women who many look at her to remain confident and follow their dreams.  [caption id="attachment_70766" align="aligncenter" width="375"] Shania Samuel Delegate #5- Miss Liat 2020[/caption] Delegate number 6 is a 24-year-old Dominique Trotman. She is a skilled graphic designer and the successful operator of her business named the Domino Effect. She is also a dedicated fashion designer.  [caption id="attachment_70767" align="aligncenter" width="333"] Dominique Trotman Delegate #6- Miss Antigua & Barbuda Port Authority[/caption] The 7th and last delegate, Chandera Codrington, is a 26-year-old proud graduate of the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School. She presently serves as a Crown Counsel within the Attorney General’s Chambers.
