The bilateral meetings were geared toward closer collaboration on issues affecting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) such as food security, trade, climate justice and recovery.
They also discussed Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine, which Prime Minister Trudeau criticized as an affront to the essential principles of liberty, border security, and international law. They decided on the need for Commonwealth nations to work together to support democracy, stability and safety, and human rights.Recognizing the attack is undermining access to food and energy across the Commonwealth, the prime ministers consented to work together to improve food security, venture climate change, develop prospects for youth, and make life better and more inexpensive for people around the world.
