Melissa Skerrit invites public to do Christmas shopping from "Santa's Mall"
Melissa Poponne Skerrit officially opened the Santa's Mall in Roseau Bayfront on Sunday and invited all to do their Christmas shopping.

Wife of the Prime Minister of Dominica and Parliament Representative from Roseau Central, Melissa Poponne Skerrit officially opened the Santa's Mall in Roseau Bayfront on Sunday.
The mall is a one-stop-shop for all Christmas related shopping. Vendors from all across Dominica have installed their stalls, offering different services to the public, including cruise ships tourists.
Melissa Skerrit invited all Dominicans to do their "Christmas shopping" from Santa's Mall at the Christmas District. The wider assortment of Dominica's local products is also made available for people to be purchased.
The Parliamentarian stated that the Christmas District is creating multiple jobs for locals, security personnel, cleaners, artists and more.
She stated that Christmas District at the Bayfront allows more space for vendors and visitors as well as allows social distancing. Mrs Skerrit stated that since the cruise season is going on, the first time the tourists will be able to actively participate in Dominica's Christmas traditions by observing local practices and tasting delectable local foods.

Melissa Skerrit also stated that the major highlight of the District is her husband PM Roosevelt Skerrit's Bush Rum Tour, which is specially targeted at the tourists. She stated that the Bush Rum Tour provides interesting mixes like the COVID mix with organic honey and lime infused in rum.
"They will get to observe the local bush and spices melded into smooth brews with the opportunity to make their own. This tour will also allow them to 'bat' with the locals, something I am sure that the visitors will love," said Melissa Skerrit.
While addressing the public during the opening ceremony, Melissa Skerrit also stated that Christmas has always been her favourite time of the year.
"As a child, I always looked forward to the magic of Christmas; the stunning decorations, comforting Carols, delicious sorrel drink, yummy fruitcake and scrumptious ham."Furthermore, Melissa Skerrit stated that next year she intends to incorporate the Promenade, Bayfront, Peebles Park and the Botanic Gardens into one major Christmas District.
