Four active cases in Dominica while one under investgation

Dominica has recorded a total of 33 confirmed coronavirus cases.

Another person has tested positive for COVID-19 in small Caribbean island of Dominica, as per the health ministry the positive person is a 58-years-old female who recently returned from the neighbouring island of Guadeloupe on October 04.

National Epidemiologist Dr Shalauddin Ahmed stated that the recent active patient had a valid negative PCR test before arrival; however, the returnee tested positive for COVID-19 on October 12.

"The female was admitted to the quarantine facility on arrival as she returned from a high-risk country." declared the National Epidemiologist.

Furthermore, Dr Shalauddin stated that the patient is currently asymptomatic and is in good condition.

One contact of the positive patient has been identified who is also a returnee from another nation, stated Dr Shlauddin.

So far, Dominica has recorded a total of 33 confirmed coronavirus cases; however, there are only four active cases in the small island nation.

According to the official statistics given by the health ministry, all cases are import-related, and there is no evidence of community transmission in the country.

Dominica has tested for 3955 people while 3922 have tested negative for this chronic virus disease. While one case is still under investigation, there has been no record of COVID-19 deaths in the country.

The COVID-19 cases have been increasing since Dominica reopened its borders on August 07, 2020. People have been returning home from different countries, and over 47 people are in GOCD quarantine.
