Dominica is safest in the Caribbean, assures PM Roosevelt Skerrit as 12-year-old goes missing
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit stated that “Dominica is the safest place you will find anywhere in the Caribbean”. He said it as the entire country prays for the safe return of 12-year-old girl Kernisha Etienne who went missing on Tuesday.  He made the remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of China aided project of Dominica Agriculture Science Complex on Friday. Prime Minister Skerrit stated that all efforts are being made to rescue the child, and the government will leave no stone unturned until her safe return. He stated that it is a national effort and people must remain positive and report to the police in case of any information. On Friday, the French team also arrived at the Canefield Airport with sniffer dogs and a helicopter which is currently assisting in the rescue efforts.

French rescue official stated that the sniffer dogs picked up a smell of the perpetrator; however, due to rain and the wind, the smell scattered, which has made it even harder for the dogs to pick up.  Recent videos that are currently viral on social media show a possible sighting of clothes and a bowl that conceivably belong to the culprit. As per reports, around 115 police officials and numerous other volunteers are part of the rescue efforts. A control room is also set up in Warner, and the public is advised to report there in case of any leads.  [caption id="attachment_42865" align="aligncenter" width="447"]Police control room in Warner Police control room in Warner[/caption] Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also thanked the French government for sending support and stated that the government of Dominica is making all efforts to ensure the safe return of the girl.  Kernisha Etienne, a 12-year-old, was abducted by an unstable man from her home on Tuesday.
