Two men have been remanded in custody in Antigua and Barbuda after being arrested last week after they were caught shooting at goats.
Timothy Kirby, 26 and of Sutherland, and 26-year-old Marcel Parker of Perry Bay appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh denied bail to the pair, who are charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of shooting with intent to murder, as well as firearms offences.
They were also charged with larceny of a goat, and the unlawful and malicious damage committed to a goat.
The incident at the centre of the case took place on Friday afternoon, with police reporting that both men were spotted, with guns, shooting at a flock of goats in the Galley Bay area.
The owner of the goats, a livestock farmer from Five Islands, approached the area with his son and friend when the pair began shooting at them.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda said: “The men reportedly fled the area in a grey Kia Rio motor car A36056, which the police later found abandoned in some nearby bushes.”
Kirby was found hiding among some bushes not far from where the incident took place, police added, before he was was arrested and taken into custody.
Details about the arrest of Parker have not been released.
A dead goat was removed from the scene with what appeared to be a bullet wound to its side.
Committal proceedings are set for 7 September.
Investigations are ongoing.
