Weather Forecast: tropical waves hitting Dominica, thunderstorms expected

24 July 2019: Extremely heavy showers on the intervening night of Tuesday have caused a fluctuation in the temperature on the nature island. The rains on the island have provided relief from heatwaves.

According to the recent weather reports the island is reported to get affected by a tropical wave, due to which thundershowers, cloudiness and possible isolated thunderstorms across most of the island chain are expected during the next 24 hours. An increase in wind speeds is also projected during the period and hazy conditions will also persist across the area over the next few days.

Moderate seas are expected during the next 24 hours with waves peaking near 8.0 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers, particularly on the east coast, should exercise caution. Gusty winds are predicted during the next few days particularly over the elevated areas of the island.
