St Kitts and Nevis: Minister Samal Duggins recalls stellar achievements in sports sector
While putting a light on the stellar year at the Department of Sports, Minister Duggins said that the country achieved the remarkable feat of reintroducing football in schools after a prolonged hiatus.

As St Kitts Nevis Labour Party marked 92 years of excellence on January 25, 2024, the Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, recalled the triumphs at the Department of Sports.
While putting a light on the stellar year at the Department of Sports, Minister Duggins said that the country achieved the remarkable feat of reintroducing football in schools after a prolonged hiatus.
He said that his ministry's ambitious plans to upgrade all sporting facilities, including the Newtown, Halfway Tree, Kim Collins Athletics Stadium and others, are in full swing.
According to the Minister, during the last year, the global -first intellectual property in sports is setting new standards in St Kitts and Nevis.
In addition to this, the Sports Ministry also hosted a string of successful regional sporting events, making it a year of sporting excellence. Samal Duggins expressed his gratitude to Permanent Secretary Valencia Syder and Director Jeffrey Hazel, along with their stellar team, for their dedication.
Moreover, the department's success is a testament to the huge achievements of the island's athletes.
"Our senior men's national football team etched their names in history, our national men's volleyball team secured a commendable second place, our national netball team emerged as undisputed champions, and the national basketball team also clinched the championship," highlighted the Minister.
Furthermore, Jahzara Claxton's triumph in the cricket arena showcases the exceptional talent of the athletes, who not only shine nationally but also make a resounding impact on the international stage.
According to Samal Duggins, it is a collective triumph where the department and the athletes stand together in the spotlight of success. He said that he is looking forward to an even more exhilarating sports season this year, where sporting excellence is the constant pursuit.
