Tyra Gittens grabs second gold medal in NCAA Championship
For the second consecutive day, Texas A&M junior Tyra Gittens hit gold during the NCAA track and field championships.

Gittens followed up her record performance in the pentathlon by winning the women's high jump at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday. She cleaned 6 feet, 2.75 inches, to beat the record.
Gittens also jumped a school record of 21-11 in the long jump to finish third. Texas junior Tara Davis won with a college record jump of 22-9, and Florida freshman Claire Bryant finished second at 21-11.75. In the preliminary rounds, A & M's Athing Mu and Charokee Young set the fastest qualifying times in the women's 400 meters. Mu finished in 51.02 seconds and Young in 51.64 to advance to Saturday's final.The Aggies' Bryce Deadmon also qualified for the men's 400 final with the second-fastest preliminary time of 45.37.
Gittens' work so far has helped the Aggie women's second rankings lead the points ladder with 26 points through 8 of 17 events. LSU and Georgia are tied with 23 points, followed by Florida (15) and Auburn (14) in a top-five in the Southeast Conference.
On the men's side, LSU and Georgia share the team's lead of 20 points, followed by Florida State (17), Southern California (16) and North Dakota State (15).
The event will conclude on Saturday.
