Three men found with guns, ammunition and masks in Antigua

Antigua and Barbuda: Three men were found with guns in Antigua allegedly charged with firearm possession on Wednesday. Along with these, ammunition and masks as well were found in a Toyota Vitz in the Gunthorpes area.

The reports have stated that the men found with guns are identified; two as 24 years old. One is Judah Francis of Potters village and the other is Devonte Burton from Paynters, and the third one is 22 year old Jahquan Davis from Skerritts Pasture.

The group of these three men was reportedly traveling in a grey Toyota Vitz and this was intercepted by a joint police-military team near the Factory playfield. During this operation, men were arrested and the vehicle was seized

Considerably, the authorities believe that this intervention prevented the men from carrying out planned criminal activities. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s court on Monday.

Crime cases in Antigua and Barbuda are taking an upsurge with each passing day. Earlier, the crime rate in Guyana was high which now is declining. The statistics have shown that in the year 2019 and 2020, there was an upward trend with 82% and 76% respectively.

However, in the following years, that is 2022, a steady and significant decline has been witnessed. Crime cases in the nation raise safety concerns among the people residing in the country.

Although, the decrease which has come forward as per the reports even is projecting relief among the individuals as such is set to improvise the situations in the country. The police officials significantly are doing their duty and are continuously committed towards making the country one of the best places to live in.

The crime incidents that include homicides, intentional killing, other robberies or drug trafficking highlights the down stated position of the country. However, the commitment of the police officials to assure the safety of citizens would surely direct towards making positive change.
