St Kitts and Nevis: Under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, the Tourism Authorities announced to observe November as Tourism Awareness Month from 1 to 30 November, aiming to re-energise the sector post-COVID-19 pandemic. The theme for this month would be “Tourism for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Economic Recovery.”

Minister of Tourism Lindsey Grant announced the theme on a televised address to the nation on November 1, 2021 to declare the beginning of November’s observance as Awareness Month. During his address, the minister added that the theme was carefully selected to reflect the crucial role of tourism in growing the country and delivering more equitable benefits and spread across different sectors of the economies within the communities of St Kitts and Nevis. The aim of this initiative is that every person in the Federation enjoy more widely and fairly the opportunities offered by the tourism sector.

He further added that many tourism industry stakeholders innovatively tackled the challenges brought by the global pandemic.

Ministry added that the initiative would be in a phased manner with all of the society approach from inception to manage the COVID-19, clearly underscores our realisation that a measurable, sustainable recovery and growth in the sector can only be realised through the consistent practice of inclusion, cooperation and collaboration.

In this context, the Federation has travel approved certification and seal programme, initiated and developed over a year ago by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Authority of St Kitts and Nevis, which offers all tourism-related business operators and service providers with access to the training which is necessary for safety and responsibility to bring facts the tourism sector. “In a bit to broad stakeholder participation, EC $100 application fee was waived and a comprehensive communications campaign was undertaken to promote the programme and ensure that everyone in the entire tourism community was fully aware of this and its availability at no cost again,” Minister Grant added.
