Kittitian Tyla Hector secures Sailor of the Year title in US Navy
Hector will enjoy the honour of having her name inscribed on a jet for one year. The prestigious titles along with the name and place of origin of Hector will be displayed on the jet.

Tyla Hector, a national of St Kitts and Nevis has been named the Sailor of the Year in the United States Navy from over 550,000 people. She was awarded the prestigious Blue Jacket for in the entire navy with the depiction of the name on the jet.

The leaders of the Federation have expressed their pride over the sailor who shone the island’s name on the jet of US Navy.
Deputy Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley remarked that he was excited to share with the Hector family of St Kitts and Nevis the spectacular achievement of Ms Hyla Hector and added, “She truly stands out as a sailor.”Minister Hanley also noted that her achievement is a reminder of how the nationals in the diaspora are making their mark, proudly representing St Kitts and Nevis.
“A proud moment for Tyla and our nation as one of our young people demonstrates their value, propelling St. Kitts and Nevis to greatness globally. Congratulations again to Tyla and her loved ones celebrating with her,” he added.Notably, this accomplishment has positioned the name of Tyla Hector as one of the most influential people on the international stage.In addition to this, several citizens of St Kitts and Nevis also praised her and wished her good luck for future endeavours.“Amazing recognition particularly for a female in the US Navy. Congratulations,” wrote a user named Giselle Matthews while another user said, “Well done Ms Hector. Your achievement has made all of us proud. Continue to strive for excellence.”
