Saint Lucia: Govt plans to host grand celebration for Julien Alfred's return from 2024 Olympic Games
As the world-renowned Saint Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred is all set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11, 2024, the Government of Saint Lucia have revealed their plans to host a grand celebration for the athlete's return to the island.

The Government has also expressed its gratitude to the track star for bringing pride to the country every time and taking the nation's name to new heights.

The Youth and Sports Minister Kenson Casimir, during a recent press conference, announced plans for a celebratory welcome upon Alfred's return. He said that like every time, it is being expected that Julein to going to achieve a medal at every event.

He outlined, "If Julien participates and wins a medal in every event, are we going to bring her down every single time she medals? So we have to think about what's happening, the trajectory."

"The fact of the matter is, after the Olympics, this government is going to put on a celebration for Julien Alfred as we've never seen before," he highlighted.

While the expectation is that Alfred will win medals in her races, Casimir underscores that the celebration is not contingent on her medal performance.

"Whether she medals or not, and we all anticipate that she is going to medal, we are going to make pronouncements, some of which we've already begun discussing, on how it is that we honour her so that generations to come can pretty much understand what she's done for this country," he added.

Highlighting the government's commitment to historic achievements and the island's sporting sector, Minister Casimir ensures that Julien's legacy will be fully recognized. He quoted, "Her legacy is not one we're going to let fall by the wayside", and added that Julien Alfred's achievements are so many that the government will not allow it to pass off.

During the conference, he said that the country would be celebrating Julien once this historic season came to an end. "And then we're going to put on a vibe like we've never seen around the island in celebration of Julien Alfred," stated Kenson Casimir.

The government of Saint Lucia has always shown its complete dedication to the growth and support of Julien Alfred as she has outshone the country's name at various prestigious stages. At present, she is being recognized as the fastest runner in the world after racing in the 60 meters world indoor championship in Glasgow earlier this month.
