RLB Intl Airport upgrades to 4th gen Border Management System, aims to ease travellers

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew attended the launch of the most anticipated 4th generation Border Management System at the Robert L Bradshaw International Airport. This system features an automated passport control kiosks.

The Prime Minister was joined by Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson during the launch ceremony. He noted that he signed the agreement for the kiosks in 2022 and is very pleased to see them implemented.

While sharing glimpses of the brief launch ceremony, PM Drew said that this is yet another significant step towards enhancing and modernising the services at the International Airport and noted, “It is also is keeping with the goals of the country’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.”

This new Border Management System will integrate the online entry application (KNA travel form), facilitate E-visa processing payment and features the Advanced Passenger Information Dashboard among several other features. The launch of five automated passport control kiosks is a highlight of the new experience.

In addition to this, PM Terrance Drew said that he himself used the system and was impressed by how user friendly and efficient it was. He highlighted that the new system will surely add to the experience of all visitors and nationals arriving to the shores. It is to be noted that the kiosks will allow arriving passengers aged 14 and above from member states of the CARICOM, Canada, UK and the US to avoid long queues and lengthy manual passport checks by an immigration officer. The built in components such as cameras and pre approved checks will maintain the integrity of the secure entry protocols in St Kitts and Nevis.

Tourism Minister also expressed her excitement with the launch of this system and said that it will revolutionise the arrival experience for visitors while enhancing convenience at the airport.

Meanwhile, the Chief Immigration Officer, Sheldon Jeffers said that international travel can be a daunting experience with long queues at immigration checkpoints and this new system will ease travellers at large.
