PM Pierre congratulates athlete Edwin as he shatters 200M national record

“Let us celebrate our very own, Delan Edwin. On two consecutive occasions, he shattered the 200M national record,” wrote Prime Minister Pierre.
He further stated that because of such a brilliant performance, Edwin had been become twenty-fifth (25th) fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, and so far, he is in the top thirty (30) worldwide for this year.
He expressed pride for representing the country globally and stated, “As a result of this performance, he now has the twenty-fifth fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, ranking him in the top thirty worldwide for the year thus far. Like the many other athletes who continue to proudly represent our country on the world stage”.
He added, “Delan has a promising future ahead of him.”
He further appealed to St Lucian to join him in congratulating the athlete. “I ask that you and every Saint Lucian join me and congratulate him!” he concluded.
Edwin is the 26-year-old St Lucian athlete, having the highest ranking of 303 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M and 2802 in Men’s Overall Ranking. The current ranking of the athlete is – 305 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M, and 2837 in Men’s Overall Ranking.
From 2019 to 2022, Edwin has bagged 14 wins. On January 18 2019, he won two races at Central Missouri Invite, Warrensburg, in rounds F5 and H5. In the same year, Edwin won three races at Saint Lucia Ch., George Odlum Stadium, Vieux-Fort in rounds SF1, H6, and H3.
In April 2021, he won two rounds – H3 and F, at David Noble ASU Relays, LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field, San Angelo, TX and four rounds – H1, F, H1, and F, at Saint Lucia Ch., George Odlum Stadium, Vieux-Fort, in the month of June.In 2022, on January 21, he won F6 and F13 rounds at Rumble in the Jungle Invitational, Robert W. Plaster Center, Pittsburg, KS, and his latest victory is in round F21 at the Washburn Open, Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility, Topeka, KS on January 28.
