PM Harris meets Colombia Ambassador to St Kitts and Nevis

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris met with Jairo Raúl Clopatofsky Ghisays new Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to St Kitts and Nevis and held discussions on a range of issues relevant for both the countries. PM Harris welcomed the Ambassador in St Kitts and Nevis this morning (on Wednesday, February 23, 2022,) and noted they discussed various concerns to enhance bilateral ties.
While highlighting discussions about the meeting, PM Harris informed, "Earlier this morning, I held discussions with Jairo Raúl Clopatofsky Ghisays, new Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to St Kitts and Nevis".
In the meeting, Prime Minister Harris was also accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Josephine Huggins and Foreign Service Officer Bjorn Hazel.
Both the leaders have discussed multiple issues such as climate change, climate finance, greater cooperation in security, culture and language, and a vision for a broader Caribbean and Latin American political and economic alliance.
Earlier, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the Foreign Minister of SKN and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley also held discussion with the Ambassador of Colombia Clopatofsky-Ghisays and initiated matters on a range of issues such as upliftment of bilateral and multilateral relevance to St Kitts and Nevis and Colombia.
The twin-island Federation established diplomatic relations with Colombia in 1984. The citizens of both countries are also having access to enjoy a reciprocal visa waiver facility.
On October 25, 2021, Nevis Premier Mark Brantley engaged with Dr Marta Lucia Ramírez, Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, to discuss the margins of the 10th Italy Latin America and the Caribbean Conference in Rome, Italy.
The theme of the 10th Italy Latin America and the Caribbean Conference was "People, Planet, Prosperity." Various issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals of the United nations 2030 Agenda and the post-pandemic recovery has been part of the discussion in the round table meeting.Author Profile
