Saint Lucia: The national bar crawl, dubbed Kabawé Krawl, continues to make waves internationally. The internationally renowned publication National Geographic recently featured Nestor's Bar, a registered participant of the Krawl.

The brand was designed to promote the nightlife, accommodations, culinary offerings, adventure, and culture within communities.

While appreciating Nestor's Bar, Nat Geo said that it is located in Castries and that Nestor has been running his kabawé - a traditional rum shack - for 22 years. The publication also noted that the restaurant is proud of its unique set of regular customers. According to Nat Geo's Karolina Wiercigroch, Nestor serves his favourite Piton Beer, rum, as well as comfort foods, including green figs, stew chicken backs and breadfruit.

"This was always a very humble dish, made with cheap cuts of chicken. But this part is very tasty and versatile," outlined National Geographic.

About Kabawé Krawl

Kabawé Krawl, partly sponsored by Piton Beer, Bounty Rum, and Lucian Links, was officially launched on October 27, 2022, by the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority at Timber Tavern, a bar offering an authentic Saint Lucian experience in the culturally rich community of Anse Ger, Micoud.

Notably, Kabawé Krawl is not just a brand, it is an experience that reveals the nooks, crannies, and watering holes of Saint Lucia. This journey takes the visitors to off-the-beaten-path destinations, locally renowned bars, and cultural attractions that define the island's distinctive social community.

The objective of Kabawé Krawl is to provide visitors and nationals alike with a quality experience while allowing for the growth of businesses within smaller communities and local hotspots.

Working through destination management companies, the authority seeks to implement excursions designed for individuals or groups of adults who love rums, food, culture, and local adventure, enjoying the outdoors as they traverse the beautiful scenery along the way to each bar stop.

Through a responsible vetting process, the SLTA works with technical teams from the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health to ensure participating bars are compliant with operational and health standards.
