St Kitts and Nevis: The leading cruise liner popular for its exceptional service, Norwegian Viva, made its inaugural cruise call to the island of St Kitts on Saturday.

The arrival of the cruise also marked the very first inaugural cruise call of 2024, which set a thrilling tone for the island's cruise sector.

To welcome the cruise, the Ministry of Tourism of St Kitts held a brief plaque exchange ceremony to honour the captain of the ship.

During the plaque exchange ceremony, Minister of Tourism Marsha Henderson expressed her excitement regarding the new year's outlook for the cruise season as well as the holistic growth of its tourism sector.

She stated that as the world begins a new year, the inaugural visit of Norwegian Viva to the beautiful shores is a testament to the resilience of the industry as well as its great potential for growth in the future.

The Minister looks forward with determination, all set to welcome visitors from across the globe to experience the exceptional beauty of the twin island nation of St Kitts and Nevis.

"Together with our respected cruise partners and local stakeholders, we are assured that 2024 will be an amazing year for both the cruise sector and the overall tourism industry," outlined Henderson.

The Norwegian Viva is said to stand as a testament to the spirit of adventure and exploration. While describing its features, the Ministry said that this state-of-the-art vessel boasts incredible amenities and facilities and can accommodate a total of 3099 passengers while making sure that passengers are comfortable and satisfied.

The cruise comprises luxurious staterooms, world-class entertainment features, innovative dining options and a number of thrilling activities while guaranteeing top-quality experiences.

As the cruise made its inaugural call, this occasion also showcased the remarkable growth and resilience of the cruise industry as it is rebounding in full force.

St Kitts and Nevis will be welcoming several cruises this year, with several unscheduled calls anticipated. For several years, users have commended the Tourism Authority for hosting the brief ceremony and the passengers well enough.
