Governments of St Kitts and Nevis, Sri Lanka signs joint communiqués

Ambassadors Liburd and Pieris exchanged greetings from their respective heads of government and foreign ministers and expressed their desire to build a greater relationship.

St Kitts and Nevis: On Monday, March 22, 2021, at a ceremony in New York, Ian Liburd, Permanent Representative of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, and Mohan Pieris, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, has signed joint communiqués on behalf of their respective governments.

Ambassadors Liburd and Pieris exchanged greetings from their respective heads of government and foreign ministers and expressed their desire to build a greater relationship.

The ambassadors also discussed various issues regarding the current COVID-19 situation, health, education and sport and made a firm commitment to promote a 'Mutual Visa waiver agreement for holiday travel' in the near future. Both ambassadors have now become connected through their revealed love of cricket - a widely played sport in both countries.

Both governments have agreed to further expand existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socio-economic and cultural fields, which will lead to the mutual benefit of both countries. They shared common and cultural interests and talked about ways in which these agreements could further promote continued cooperation between the two countries.
