On the very night of re-election as President of Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), Kenneth Green presented his support for the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program. While addressing the event he said that the work done under the CBI program should not go unnoticed.
Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program has been a hot topic of discussion by opposition parties on the island. This program is part of a source of income to the island under which second citizenship is issued to people who meet the guidelines of the program.
During his address, Kenneth Green reminded the public about the devastating Hurricane Maria in 2018, which shattered the private sector into pieces. He told the public that the resources generated through Citizenship by Investment program made it possible to get things back on track all over again.
In addition to this, he said,“ Citizenship by Investment is not new to Dominica, If you look below the surface you will realize that this program is being practiced since 1993, every party has kept the CBI program. There may have been different policies but it was there. ”
The DAIC president also showed his concern over the amount of dependence by the government on the CBI program, but he even stated that it is no reason to get completely against the program.
He also said, “The debate should be about how the money is being used instead of throwing stones at the program that proves to be beneficial to our society."
