Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit announced the general elections of 2019. Dr Skerrit made this announcement at a talent show named ‘Labour got talent’ organised in Roseau on Tuesday evening.

During the event, PM said that he has advised President Charles Savarin to dissolve the parliament on November 6, 2019, as the elections will be conducted on 6th day of December 2o19.

The nominations process for the upcoming general elections will be from beginning from November 19, 2019.

Prime Minister’s election announcement speech remained Dominica centric where he discussed the major and topmost priorities of citizens of the country.

He advised all the citizens to cast the right of their vote on 6th of December by listing the importance of elections to any democracy.

Furthermore, Dr Skerrit enumerated plethora of accomplishments of Dominica Labour Party government from historical two decades.

Followers of the Dominica Labour Party gathered at the event wearing ‘Red t-shirts’ which showcased their support for the party.

As per Dr Skerrit, the Dominica Labour Party government have been working prudently to create a dynamic Dominica. He said “

Dominica is no longer the same, simple or underdeveloped country that labour took over in the year 2000, this is a country 0n the course of development. Under Labour, there is a new dynamic Dominica.”

Besides this, PM said that the vision and development of the country have only been possible with the support of the citizens of Dominica.

“Dominica Labour Party helped the citizens regardless of the political party they follow,” added Skerrit.

With hope and vision, PM said that “We can succeed in becoming the first climate-resilient nation in the world, we can succeed in becoming the newest and most desired tourist destination in the region, we can succeed in becoming a preferred place to live and to do business.”
