Dominica: Contract signed for first phase of Balapark Cemetery Road in presence of PM Skerrit

Contract was signed for the first phase of the Balapark/ Cemetery Road (Chateau Road).
Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit visited the Grand Bay constituency to keep track of the ongoing project in the region on Thursday. During his visit, a contract was signed for the first phase of the Balapark/ Cemetery Road (Chateau Road).

The contract was signed between the Grand Bay village councillor and the contractor; later both exchanged the contract. The prime minister was accompanied by the Parliament representative of the constituency Dr Vince Henderson.

The construction of the road will officially commence now in phases. The first phase will witness the construction of 100 metres of road, costing $107,985.

While having a tour to the Grand Bay constituency, Prime Minister visited to check the progress of the Mopo Farm Access Roads project. It is expected that this project will ensure the enhancement in the agricultural production in the area and will help the farmers. The project will cost approximately $1.5 million, which will be funded by the European Development Fund.

PM Skerrit mentioned that the Government of Dominica will take care of the housing needs of the residents in the constituency and will try to provide proper and safe accommodation to the residents.

He further shared an update on the rehabilitation of the Geneva Playing Field. He said that the project would be concluded soon, costing $500 000.

While addressing the media, Vince Henderson said that it is an important project for not just the constituency but also for the community as every person had faced difficulty in transportation and was reluctant to visit the constituency. This road will reduce the inconvenience of the residents; he further said while explaining the benefits of the road.

He further thanked Prime Minister Skerrit for the prompt action taken.

This initiative by the Roosevelt-led government has gardened applauds from all sides. People are congratulating and praising the government for this effort.
