DLP launches another ‘Medical Doctor’ for upcoming general elections

Dominica’s general elections are coming near. Even though the date of elections is not yet announced but political parts are ready with full enthusiasm to win the votes.

Dominica Labour Party (DLP) have been launching its parliamentary candidates back to back without stopping. As the elections will take place on 21 parliamentary constituencies, DLP has already launched candidates on more than half of the seats.

Today, candidate for the Roseau Valley constituency was launched in the presence of party leader and current Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, Deputy Prime Minister Reginald Austrie and Ministers Ian Douglas.

Hundreds of DLP followers gathered in Trafalgar Playing Field to gaze at the massive launch of Dr. Irvin McIntyre. It is to mention that Dr. Irvin McIntyre, not the only medical doctor launched by the party as its representative for elections. Party has previously launched candidates like Dr. Adis King who share the same vocation as Dr. McIntyre.

At the launch of Dr. Irvin McIntyre Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit said that only two candidates are looking forward to their launch for the general elections, he said “I wish to remind you that yet to officially join this group of patriots are Kent Edwards and Melissa Skerrit.”

PM asserted that by the time the exercise of candidate launches is complete, the Dominica Labour Party which is a four-term government will boast the freshest and most talented group of parliamentary candidates in the entire Western Hemisphere.

Dr. Skerrit expressed his gratitude towards the hard work of Dr John Collin McIntyre for his two terms of selfless hard work and devotion in uplifting and developing Dominica.

While lashing out as opposition Prime Minister said that they are on their radio seven days a week and has no vision for the nation, he stated “No one in this country can tell me this evening, three profound things that a United Workers Party government would do differently, were they to be elected to office.”

During address to his constituency as well as Dominican inhabitants, Dr Irvin McIntyre said that it is a great day that we all have gathered here and I present myself as a candidate but as a servant who will serve fully with his abilities.

McIntyre also said that there is another reason that he is approaching to be in a government office because the job relates to his profession by giving more significance to ‘Prevention before cure’.

While his address McIntyre described his vision to the people by telling them the area’s he wants to focus on the Roseau Valley Constituency. He said that he wants to give special importance to agriculture, medicine, and even sports in the area because all these are important to reach developmental goals.
