Another tests positive of COVID-19 in Dominica, total active cases now 4

Another traveller has been confirmed to have coronavirus in Dominica taking the total active cases to four. The declaration was made by Dr Laura Esprit- Coordinator of the border reopening program.

Dr Esprirt stated that the new positive candidate is a Dominican national who recently returned from the United States of America and the rapid testing was done upon arrival at the Douglas Charles Airport after which the traveller was shifted to government-operated COVID-19 facility of the country.

Besides this, she added that all the travellers on board of the similar flight are re-tested for coronavirus; however, so far no other passenger tested positive for the virus.

Currently, there are four active cases in Dominica, while the total number of positive patients.

Dr Espirt stated that the Ministry of health as part of the national COVID-19 response has set up a COVID-19 hotline team to clarify virus-related concerns of nationals and visitors. She added that over 1563 calls have been addressed by the hotline so far; however, this number does not include the calls received on other numbers of the hotline.

Dominica has reopened its borders for all travellers from August 7 onwards with strict health protocols. All travellers are required to fill an online form along, and PCR testing before 72-hours of arrival is also mandatory.
