PM Skerrit talks about Hurricane Season, housing, health care and a lot more in his new talk show

Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the people through a programme solely designed to hear the people of the country. Dr Skerrit initiated an informal yet informative communication through show named 'Anou Palay meaning, let's talk'.

Prime Minister stated during the programme that the most joyous and fulfilling part of his job is to meet and listen to the people of Dominica about their struggles, hopes and dreams. He added that he hopes things would get back to normal so that he can meet even more people than he sees in his office in the coronavirus crisis.

Speaking about the hurricane season, Dr Skerrit stated that the government is making arrangments by establishing hurricane centres and putting health and security systems in place.

Prime Minister added that the government is ensuring that the country has sufficient food supplies and water in case of any uncertainty.

Furthermore, he stated that construction would be allowed even during the hurricane season because it is imperative to ensure that enough houses are constructed, and health care centres are prepared with amenities.

Besides this, he stated 254 climate-resilient homes would be distributed in four areas before Sunday.

He added that the construction of Marigot hospital is going on with full speed so that people in the area can get health care benefits as early as possible. Dr Skerrit also stated that in five years to come, Dominica's health care structure would be redefined with modern and advanced technical facilities.

During the conversation, Dr Skerrit also discussed the difficulties of children with special needs and stated that their requirements would be fulfilled. "Promises that we have made to you will be fulfilled, we need to provide further attention to special needs children, and the government is putting efforts to redirect money resources to take care of the vulnerable among us because they also have talent like all of us," added Dr Skerrit.
