Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit Guyana seized $18 million worth of Ganja

Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) Guyana seized $18 million worth of Ganja during a counter-narcotics operation along Unity foreshore area, ECD, between June 8 & 9th. During this operation, the officers found a 17 ft wooden boat with a large fertilizer bag inside; upon closer examination of the bag, it contained marijuana.A further search of a coconut grove nearby led to discovering an additional 17 bags of marijuana. The 18 bags were weighed, which amounted to 300 lbs, valued at eighteen (GYD 18,000,000) Million dollars. The boat, along with the engine, was also seized. During the operation a year ago, more than 5000 cannabis plants ranging between three and four feet in height were burned.
