Barbados will be only direct route from Scotland to Caribbean

Barbados: On 5 December 2021, Barbados will be the only direct route from Scotland to the Caribbean, as Virgin Atlantic launches their new direct route from Edinburgh (IATA: EDI) to Bridgetown (IATA: BGI, Grantley Adams International Airport), Barbados.
Virgin Atlantic's new flight connecting Scotland with Barbados operates twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, on an Airbus A330. Travellers can choose to fly in one of three cabins, such as the upper class or Premium. Rates start from £ 419 per person. Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Lisa Cummins, greeted the news by stating: "The fact that this fresh route is Scotland's only nonstop flight to the Caribbean is something that everyone in Barbados is proud of. It will also be the first time Virgin Atlantic has flown international flights from Edinburgh, so it's a significant historical moment for both Scotland and Barbados. We look forward to showing Scottish travelers that Barbados is a safe destination, ready and waiting for them. " She continued, "The establishment of this new service offers even more connectivity options for Scottish holidaymakers, business travelers and residents. We are working for the diversification of routes, the airlift to support these routes and new destinations that can partner with Barbados for marketing and partnerships. with multiple destinations, so it's in line with Barbados' policy and something we will build on. "Edinburgh Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Scotland, serving more than 12 million passengers a year.

Not only have we significantly expanded capacity to the island with the launch of our latest aircraft, the A350, but we are delighted to be flying from three local gateways, from London, Manchester and our new home in Scotland, Edinburgh. Our new flights indicate that more customers than ever before can experience the beautiful beaches, equisetic cuisine and rich culture that Barbados has. ”
Scottish Transport Minister Graeme Dey said: "I welcome this news about Virgin Atlantic's commitment to Scotland and the launch of their new service from Barbados to Barbados.
