Barbados: St Gabriel Primary School wins Primary School Of The Year 2023

The St Gabriel Primary School in Barbados won the National Sports Council award for 'Primary School of the Year 2023. The school has been awarded for outstanding sports performances throughout the year. The St Gabriel Primary School is recognized as the community school of the year in Academics, Sports and Arts in Bridgetown, St Michael Barbados. The school provides a well-rounded education within a Christian framework for a highly diverse student body.

In December, St Gabriel's emerged as the 2023 Herman Griffith Cricket Tournament zone winner, and Jasper King earned the 'overall Best Bowling Performance' in the tournament.

During November, they secured victory in the 2023 Primary Inter-school Swimming Championship with a massive 392 points to be clear-cut winners, ahead of the second-place school with 190.5 points.

In the same month, they competed in the National Sports Council 2023 Trevor Straughn Memorial Cross Country races, competing in the boy's and girls' divisions for Class 1&2 and Class 3&4 and secured the top ten finishers in each division.

In October, the school took part in the 2023 Marcia Trotman Cross Country Relays, where the boys finished in third place and the girls finished fifth.

Earlier in the year, Team St Gabriel’s won third place in the boys' and girls' divisions in the Andrea Blackett Zone at NAPSAC, held at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

The school enables children to interact, communicate and involve the students, which will not only strengthen their minds but also encourage them to grow mentally, artistically and athletically.

Further, the school aims to instil and develop wholesome confidence among the members of society and create talents and creativity that can flourish and enhance themselves.

Reflecting upon their achievement, the St Gabriel Primary School extended their pleasure and gratitude. They also congratulated their sports enthusiasts and encouraged the community to create a healthy balance between sports and academics, inspiring them for the same.
