The authorities in Montserrat rescued two men missing at sea. As per reports, Captain Ryan of the Heliconia Star and his crew were dispatched for the operations after information was received on June 1, 2022, at noon.
According to information received, the two men were last seen in Little Bay at 2 p.m. on May 31 before going fishing. A close acquaintance of the fisherman stated that staying out this long without making contact is unusual. He went on to say that they were on their way to Bransby Point.
The Fisheries Department provided more information, and the crew of the Heliconia Star started in search of the two men. Angelo Richards and Martin Weekes were recovered after three hours of searching, and they appeared to be in good health.
When venturing out at sea, Captain Ryan emphasises the significance of safety equipment. VHF radio with spare battery, fully charged cellular phone, and life jacket was among the items on board; nonetheless, there was no safety equipment.DPA Rodney would like to express his gratitude to Ponteen of the Montserrat Fisheries Department, as well as Captain Ryan and his crew - Coxswain Huggins, Deckhand Darroux, and Engineer Mahoney - for their quick response.
