Browne is paying an official visit to China from Monday to Sunday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. This is his second official visit to China after the first one in 2014.

The major objective of the Prime Minister's recent visit to China was to draw higher investment to Antigua and Barbuda and boost the trade linkages between both countries.

PM Gaston Browne also lauded China's significant role in promoting the twin-island nation's socio-economic development while defining it as 'the most philanthropic country globally'.

In addition to this, 2024 will also mark the 41st anniversary of relations between the People's Republic of China and Antigua and Barbuda.

It is to be noted that this move received a warm welcome from Antiguan and Barbudan students who are studying in China and enthusiastically expressed their support for the newly established Embassy.

A student named Jermaine Whinfield took to Facebook to express her happiness towards this development. She said, "Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda in China opening ceremony. One of the best things to happen for us students studying here."

PM Browne has always worked hard to deepen the country's relations with China to work on several common interests.
