Barbados reported another COVID-19 related death on Sunday. As per reports, the deceased was a 44-year-old male who died after spending 17 days in primary isolation. He had an underlying health condition was not vaccinated. The recent death is brought out the total number of coronavirus related deaths due to coronavirus. The recent reports by the Ministry of Health noted that Barbados recorded 37 new cases of the virus, 16 males and 21 females, from 983 tests conducted by the best centres public health laboratory. The new positives comprise 28 people who are 18 years old and over and nine who are below 18.

The officials said the contact tracing teams continue to investigate and test the densely populated areas.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George stated that as the coronavirus cases are high, the hospitals are fully equipped to handle any situation. He said there are no shortages of oxygen and other medical supplies.

He also disclosed there would be an increase in isolation and quarantine facilities.

As per reports, the health departments have tested over 260,379 people since February 2020, while only 4,968 tested positive for coronavirus. The country also reported 50 virus-related deaths.

The reports by the Barbadian health ministry reveal that34.7% of the population are fully vaccinated.

Eddy Abed, Managing Director of ABEDS, said the island is not in the position of handling another lockdown and government must act responsibly.
