COVID-19 pandemic taught serious lessons: Mark Brantley

Mark Brantley- Premier of Nevis, stated on Wednesday morning that the coronavirus pandemic taught critical lessons to everyone. He said the difficult times showed how everybody is interconnected.

Brantley, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, shared the thoughts in his morning message on Wednesday. He asked everyone to be nice and calm to each other.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us some serious lessons. We are interconnected and interdependent as a human race. Let us heed the lessons and be kinder and gentler to each other." wrote Brantley.

St Kitts and Nevis is now doing well amidst the pandemic. The country welcomed its second cruise call on Tuesday. The Celebrity Equinox berthed at the Port Zante, Basseterre, under strict coronavirus related measures posed to protect citizens and passengers from the pandemic.

The country also continues to move forward with a successful vaccination rollout. As per the data of the Ministry of Health, around 76.4% of the adult population have received their first dose and over 66% are fully vaccinated.

Around 9.1% of children also received their first dose of Pfizer vaccine, and approximately 3.5% are fully vaccinated. The rollout of Pfizer started after the United States of America donated 11,500 doses in August 2021.
