WATCH: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first interview since engagement reveal
Couple are planning to marry next year
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have given their first interview, just hours after they revealed that they will be getting married.
The couple revealed they met on a blind date after being matched by a friend.
The prince had “never even heard of” Markle before the date, but said he was “beautifully surprised” when he met her.
During the conversation, he said Meghan and his late mother, Princess Diana, would have been “thick as thieves”.
"I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me, but then, as I said, she would have probably been best friends – best friends with Meghan.
"You know, it is days like today I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news. But, you know, with the ring and with everything else that’s going on, I’m sure she’s with us."
They were speaking Mishal Husain, a news presenter for the BBC.
