WATCH: Dominica and China document signing ceremony
China has helped the island since Hurricane Maria struck
Representatives of Dominica and China yesterday signed official documents in the press room of the prime minister's office in the island's capital, Roseau.
They covered military aid and continuing economic cooperation. Letters relating to the two nations' agricultural work together.
The proceedings were chaired by cabinet secretary Steve Ferrol, with speeches from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and ambassador Lu Kun.
Ferrol said the occasion represented "positive action to assist a friend in need".
China boosted the state coffers of Dominica by US$14 million at the beginning of November, with the money to be used for post-Hurricane Maria recovery.The extra donation comes after China, officially known as the People’s Republic of China, gave US$800,000 to Dominica immediately after Hurricane Maria struck.
The Asian superpower also put money into the United Nations Development Programme, which has been used to repair roofs across Dominica, bringing the total donated by China up to $15 million.
