Ten arrested in Malta over Daphne Caruana Galizia murder

Blogger had accused politicians of corruption

Police in Malta investigation the murder of blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia have arrested eight people.

News outlets on the island have named George and Alfred Degiorgio as the main suspects, who WIC News understands have a criminal past and are part of a wider gang.

Operations took place in the areas of Zebbug and Bugibba, and the town of Marsa, according to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

The prime minister has not commented when asked whether the group arrested included the mastermind of the attack, according to Malta Today.

Galizia, 53, was well known for her work on exposing corruption. She had accused a number of senior politicians of being involved in wrongdoing.

She was killed in a car bomb attack close to her home on 16 October.

Malta’s police force called in experts from across the world to help them solve the crime, including from the FBI.

A €1 million (US$1.2 million) reward was offered by the government for help in finding her killers.
