Powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits Tirana

A 6.4 greatness quake has hit Albania, cutting down structures and leaving individuals caught under the rubble.

The shake hit 34 km (21 miles) northwest of the capital, Tirana, right off the bat Tuesday morning.

A man in Durres told nearby news channel News24 that his little girl and niece were among those caught inside a fallen high rise.

"I chatted with my little girl and niece on the telephone. They said they are well and sitting tight for the salvage. Couldn't converse with my significant other. There are different families; however, I couldn't converse with them."

Rescuers in the city were seen attempting free a little youngster caught in the rubble.

There have been various post-quake tremors, including one of 5.3 sizes, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said.
