PM Roosevelt Skerrit assures Dominica's full support to CGS Patricia Scotland
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit met Commonwealth General Secretary Patricia Scotland QC at his office on Thursday and showcased Dominica's full support to her as the elections to fill the post will be held in Rwanda in June.  "I was delighted to welcome the Rt. Hon Patricia Scotland QC, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, to Dominica today," Prime Minister tweeted on Thursday.  He stated that Baroness Scotland has Dominica's full backing for retaining her post of Secretary-General of the Commonwealth to continue her work of identifying solutions to the most pressing issues facing member states. Patricia Scotland stated it is such a joy to be in her home country, "We spoke about how to boost #Dominica’s digital economy & connect governments with the private sector to leverage resources & expertise,".

Elections to fill the post will be held during the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, in June. She also met Dominica's Minister for Planning, Economic Development, Climate-Resilience, Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy Vince Henderson and produced children’s books on sustainable energy & deep sea minerals, as well as her biennial report. "We enjoyed useful talks about @commonwealthsec impact over the past 6 yrs, as well as progress to come with programmes such as the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub, Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Agenda & Commonwealth BlueCharter," she Tweeted.

Scotland- A Dominican born is the first woman to hold the position of Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. She is currently on her Caribbean tour as she works toward retaining her position as the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

Just two days earlier, she landed in St Kitts and Nevis and the met Prime Minister Timothy Harris during the visit.
