CSG Patricia Scotland meets PM Skerrit, President Burton in Dominica
CSG Patricia Scotland visited Dominica, the land of her birth and received a warm welcome by President Sylvanie Burton on Wednesday.

The Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland visited Dominica, the land of her birth and received a warm welcome by President Sylvanie Burton on Wednesday. During the meeting, both leaders discussed the value of artificial intelligence in development and empowering youth.
While sharing the glimpses on her official Facebook account, CSG Scotland said, “We spoke about the value of AI in development and to empower youth and The Commonwealth’s ongoing support for small states.”
She also thanked President Burton for welcoming her to her birth country. Patricia Scotland reiterated her vows towards Dominica and said that the Commonwealth will continue to support the country in every sphere.
During her visit to the Commonwealth of Dominica, she also engaged in fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. Both the leaders discussed various matters of common concerns related to the small island states like Dominica and their development aspects.
PM Skerrit also thanked CSG Scotland for her impressive leadership of the Commonwealth and for taking the name of the country to new heights.
She said that she was honored to meet with the Prime Minister of Dominica as both of them talked about the Commonwealth’s support of SIDS through programs like Commonwealth CFAH, Blue Charter, and Common Sensing, as well as collaborations with the private sector and digital training courses, especially for youth.
In addition to this, she also addressed the 35th Annual Carifta Congress held in Dominica earlier this week.
During the address, she motivated everyone to work hard for their goals and never feel they are not better than others. The Secretary General has always been in favour of the citizens of the small island nations and consistently promotes these nations especially Dominica on the international stage.
The CSG’s visit to Dominica shows her deep connection with her birth nation and her commitment to stay connected with her roots despite being on such a huge platform at the Commonwealth.
