Port of Spain: Trinidad and Tobago's leader of opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar took booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday. She stated that the country is experiencing a rise in coronavirus related infections, and people must get vaccinated.  In a post shared on Facebook, Kamla Persad stated that she took the two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine without any side effects. She advised others to get vaccinated after consulting health professionals. The 69-year-old Bissessar stated that vaccination is of utmost importance, and any person having health-related concerns regarding the vaccine must take advice from their physicians.  She stated that everyone could make a difference to lower the rate of coronavirus infections, "Vaccine improve our chances against COVID-19," said Bissessar. Furthermore, she stated that the vaccine is safe and decreases the chances of catching severe coronavirus related illnesses. Trinidad and Tobago has suddenly seen a rise in coronavirus related. On November 25, 2021, the country recorded 624 new infections and 31 virus-related deaths. Besides this, the health structure is currently overwhelmed as there are 9606 active cases.  The vaccination status in Trinidad and Tobago is slowly increasing; over 640,787 people have taken at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 639,486 people are fully vaccinated against the virus.
