St Kitts and Nevis records only one COVID-19 case in 14-days

St Kitts and Nevis recorded only one imported COVID-19 case in the last fourteen days and only one pending results from the laboratory, the health ministry reported on Sunday.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis recorded only one imported COVID-19 case in the last fourteen days and only one pending results from the laboratory, the health ministry reported on Sunday. In recent statistics released on Sunday, the ministry of health St Kitts and Nevis stated that currently, 446 people at the government quarantine facility and nine isolated at the homes while around 7 in other facilities. The number of active coronavirus cases in the twin-island nation is also just one. The health ministry published that the country has conducted 14435 coronavirus tests while 14382 came negative and only 52 positive results reported since last year. Besides this, over 21,459 people have also received their coronavirus vaccines in the country making it a total of more than 44% target population inoculated. Both were St Kitts and Nevis nationals. Following the first two cases, on 28 March 2020, the country recorded five more cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of confirmed cases to seven ageing from 10 months to 36years.  Soon after, more people started to test positive, and the government had to close the borders, including the implementation of a state of emergency for six months. All gatherings were limited, and only essential facilities could operate.
