St Kitts and Nevis PM asks people follow curfew regulations

COVID-19 virus continues to destruct the world with no country being able to escape the pandemic's social, economic, and political impacts. Small Caribbean island nations like St Kitts and Nevis are under the continuous threat of the virus.

Recently, the government of St Kitts and Nevis announced a state of emergency and curfew is imposed from 5 am to 7 pm four fourteen days.

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris stated that the world is in an 'unprecedented time' which requires extraordinary measures to solve this problem.

The government has also announced a $120 million stimulus package to assist the people in the dilemma of COVID-19 after two people tested positive of the virus.

Prime Minsiter of St Kitts and Nevis stated in his nationwide address that he is committed to do what is best for the people of his country. He also asked the people to calm and confront the crisis together.

St. Kitts and Nevis has recorded to date two confirmed cases of COVID-19 with no deaths.

In announcing the State of Emergency, which was sanctioned by the Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis, and took effect on March 28 from 5 am to 7 pmeach day for 14 days, Prime Minister Harris said:

Additionally social and physical distancing protocols have been stepped up to protect persons. People are advised to follow the quarantine restrictions.

As per the PM Harris the cabinet remains concerned about accusations that people are not conscientiously complying with the quarantine restrictions. Which is why strict actions will be enforced on such people.
