Basseterre: St Kitts and Nevis have made a record in itself by administrating 2,000 coronavirus vaccines in less than 48-hours. Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris stated that the country is making progress on the vaccination programme. Dr Cameron Wilkinson, Medical Chief of Staff at the JNF Hospital, stated 957 doses were administrated on Thursday, with 701 people receiving their first dose. He stated, "We have now delivered a total of 24,297 doses into arms."  St Kitts and Nevis have immunized 17736 persons or 53.7 percent of the target population with the first dose. Besides this, a total of 6,561 persons or 19.9 percent of the target population fully vaccinated. Dr Wilkinson stated that over 53.7 percent of adults over the age of 18 have done what is right for themselves, the children of this blessed nation and the elderly and frail. He said the adults who refuse to protect themselves would get protection as we move closer to herd immunity. He asked people to come forward to receive the vaccine so the country can return to normalcy. A St Kitts and Nevis citizen named La Toya GlamourGirl Lake-Marshall stated that the vaccine drive of the country is very impressive, and the country is on the right track. Recently, a new coronavirus cluster was discovered in the country, with fifteen cases arriving in less than a week and six testings positive from the same household. Following the new COVID-19 cases, the government declared an evening curfew daily from 11 pm to 5 am and along with the closure of all schools. The government also suspended all close contact sports and public gatherings; the number of people at weddings and funerals has also been restricted. The number of passengers in public transportation has been limited to 50% of the capacity of the vehicle.
