St Kitts and Nevis: Lindsay Grant declared Caribbean "Tourism Minister of the Year"
Minister of Tourism St Kitts and Nevis Lindsay F.P. Grant has been voted as the "Tourism Minister of the Year" in Caribbean Journal's annual Caribbean Travel Awards.

The award honours Minister Grant's outstanding leadership throughout a difficult year of managing and advancing the destination's tourist recovery.

Minister Grant guided the St Kitts and Nevis through the most difficult periods of the pandemic while simultaneously positioning the Federation as the premier destination where international air and sea travellers can enjoy a quintessential Caribbean escape.

The journal noted the efforts of Minister Grant and said he worked actively with the Federation's health officials to manage and adjust tourism protocols and driving the creation of an industry-leading set of cruise protocols.

Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, Transport and Ports, remarked, "I am exceedingly thrilled to receive this remarkable recognition from our esteemed colleagues at Caribbean Journal who designated these travel awards."

"St. Kitts and Nevis has demonstrated how strong and resilient the Caribbean people are, and will continue to be, as we navigate these difficult times together," said Grant. Furthermore, he stated the Federation has a promising future. The country recently lifted mandatory arrival testing and Vacation in Place (quarantine) for international flight travellers, and Port Zante is now open to free-flow exploration.

"With 21 cruise ships in dock this week, it's the busiest week for cruise arrivals since the island reopened its borders to international travellers. Looking forward to 2022, we expect to see further increase in our international stay-over air travellers," emphasized Grant.

"We witnessed the overwhelming majority of the Caribbean roar back this year, with the highest-volume tourism in history for most places," stated Alexander Britell, Editor and Publisher, Caribbean Journal.

"Minister Grant's leadership in navigating this challenging environment for St. Kitts and Nevis has been a strong statement to the world that the Caribbean is the most resilient area on earth and cannot be beaten, seizing every challenge and using it to power a new future," said Britell/

The eighth annual Caribbean Travel Awards honours the people, places, and properties that best represent the gorgeous region. The Caribbean Journal editorial staff selects these prizes each year based on the destination and its performance throughout the previous year.
