In an interesting turn of events, Nigel Faron has revealed that Permanent Representative of St Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, Sam Condor, will be relinquishing his position in the coming weeks and plans to lend his support to the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, for whom he previously served as Deputy Prime Minister between 1995 and 2013.

Following his resignation from the Labour Party Government in 2013, Condor joined the Team Unity alliance and, despite failing to win a seat, was described as playing a “significant role” in securing Team Unity’s victory in the 2015 General Election.

According to Faron, however, after working closely with Team Unity for the past five years, Condor has become disillusioned by the ironic sense of disunion and division that underlies Team Unity and feels that he was wrong to break away from the Labour Party. Condor will now resign as Special Representative to the United Nations and will instead be endorsing Leader of the Opposition, Dr Denzil Douglas, as the next leader of the Federation, says Faron.

With an 18-year stint in Government, and an impressive portfolio of ministerial roles under his belt, Sam Condor’s opinion is likely to hold significance for Kittitians and Nevisians across the country as the 2020 General Election looms.

These days, PM Dr Timothy Harris is spending more time dousing fires in his party than taking potshots at his political rivals. Condors’ deep understanding of political issues made him virtually indisputable to Team Unity all these years.

He is apparently upset with PM Harris over the handling of political affairs in SKN. Not only Condor, but many others in the party have also questioned the party leadership and accused PM Harris of following the path of supporting his family and friends only rather than focusing the whole country.

According to sources, Sam Condor described his resignation as decision taken not for any political post or power, it is now an ideological issue and also mentioned that the people of St Kitts and Nevis will be happy with the decision.

Condor was initially reluctant to the decision of leaving the party, finally he made the decision after consulting his well-wishers. Spending a long period in politics and serving as Deputy Prime Minister, he took the final call of conscience now, revealed sources.
