PM Timothy Harris extends his warm wishes to Joseph W. Parry on his retirement from active politics

Former Premier of Nevis Honourable Joseph W. Parry recently retired from active politics. Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Timothy Harris extended his good wishes to the leader on this occasion.

PM Dr Harris stated on Monday that Honourable Joseph Parry has given outstanding service to his country and fellow citizens during a distinguished public service career.

Prime Minister Timothy Harris shed light on Joseph W. Parry's political career and discussed his service to the nation. He told that Mr Parry had an extremely extraordinary strategy throughout his political career. Leader notably headed up the post-Independence Nevis Civil Service (1983-1987) before being elected on the NRP ticket in December 1987 and going on to serve as Minister of Tourism, Agriculture and Labour from 1987 to 1992 in the administration of Nevis’ first Premier, the late Dr. the Right Excellent Sir Simeon Daniel, one of our National Heroes.

Furthermore, Dr Harris stated that history will always remember the decisive role that Joseph Parry played in determining the governance of the nation. Additionally, he evoked the moments when on November 29th, in 1993 general elections, People’s Action Movement (PAM) and Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) formed a coalition government upon the approval of the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Clement Arrindell.

Besides this, Joseph W. Parry was the only Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) who was successful in n the Nevis Island Assembly election of December 18th, 2017, which resulted in the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), led by the Honourable Mark Brantley, Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, winning 4 out of the five seats.
