St Kitts and Nevis govt to allow Carnival celebrations under health guidelines
The government of St Kitts and Nevis is looking for ways to reopen the tourism industry; Attorney General Vincent Byron stated on Friday that the industry could expect more events for fully vaccinated individuals. He said the country still has a curfew in place from 1 AM to 5 AM, which means that most functions allowed must finish by midnight.

Attorney General stated that all events must be held in accordance with the law, and only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed entry into such events. He said the Cabinet is holding discussions to finalise all the things related to the carnival season. He noted that all people who wish to participate in the upcoming functions must get themselves vaccinated.

He said the National Carnival Committee provided the Cabinet with an overview of celebrations related to the carnival season. He said some events would also be held virtually and others under full COVID-19 related restrictions.

Attorney-General stated that the resumption of such activities would stimulate the economy and support different sectors of the country.

Talking about coronavirus, Byron said everybody must contribute to lowering the coronavirus cases in St Kitts and Nevis. He said the government is taking all related actions to control the infection rate, but people must follow the guidelines.

The carnival was suspended in 2020 due to coronavirus related lockdowns and other restrictions. As the world slowly opens to tourism, such activities are being held after a long pause. Hundreds of people participate in carnival celebrations, but this year only vaccinated individuals will be allowed.
