Elections will be called soon, says SKN PM Timothy Harris

During the housing allocation ceremony in Sandy Point on Thursday, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis indicated towards the general election date for 2020.

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris stated that the 2020 parliamentary elections would be announced soon. "Elections will be called soon enough, and elections will be called between the constitutional deadline."

Furthermore, the leader stated that 'Team Unity' will be fighting for all 11 parliamentary seats and will definitely score a victory on eight seats in St Kitts and the rest three seats in Nevis.

In 2015 general elections, 'Team Unity' which is an alliance of three major political parties - People's Action Movement (PAM), Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and People's Labour Party (PLP) joined together to fight one of the oldest party St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.

In previous elections 'Team Unity' succeeded in scoring a victory on 7 out of the total 11 parliamentary seats in the twin-island nation of St Kitts and Nevis, while St Kitts and Nevis Labour party which ruled the country for over two decades won three seats.

Recent reports suggest that Team Unity may not be running current Prime Minister Timothy Harris as the Prime Ministerial candidate, but Nevis Premier Mark Brantley become the next PM of SKN if the alliance get their ballot full in 2020 general elections.

The general elections of St Kitts and Nevis are due in May month of this year, all political parties have already initiated their political campaigning.
