Shanoya Douglas wins Gold as Jamaica takes 4x100m relay title

Jamaica: Shanoya Douglas won a gold medal on Sunday at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, helping Jamaica win the women’s 4x100m relay in a World U20-leading time of 42.89 seconds.

The Jamaican team consisted of Sashana Johnson, Thieanna-Lee Terrelonge, Natrece East and Shanoya Douglas, who delivered a strong performance and finished ahead of Switzerland and Belgium.

They shut it down. Team Jamaica were on a mission for gold in the women’s 4x100m, shared World Athletics via an official Facebook page.

Jamaica crossed the finish line 42.89 seconds, earning them the fastest World U20 time. Switzerland won the silver with a seasonal best time of 43.36 seconds, while Belgium clinched bronze in a National U20 Record of 43.91 seconds.

Douglas said, “It meant a lot for us. We wanted the gold to go home. We wanted it to be four-in-a-row where Jamaica had gotten gold in this championship.

This victory also gave Douglas another medal at the championships. She finished second in both the women’s 100m in 11.17 seconds and 200m in 22.68 seconds before helping Jamaica secure relay gold.

Douglas is now taking home three medals from the championships, including one gold and two silvers, after her outstanding performance at the international event.

Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m relay race team also secured a bronze medal at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships on Sunday with a seasonal best time of 39.01 seconds. The team featured Kyle Bodden, Gary Card, Nyrone Wade, and Sanjay Seymore.

The Caribbean island ranked 4th overall, while the United States ranked first in the medal standings with 24 medals (12 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze), followed by Kenya (4 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), and Italy (5 medals overall).
