St Kitts and Nevis records another 22 cases of COVID-19
The federation has reported additional 22 cases of COVID-19 over the past weekend, said the Ministry of Health.

St Kitts and Nevis: The federation has reported additional 22 cases of COVID-19 over the past weekend, said the Ministry of Health.
The ministry stated that all the new COVID-19 positive individuals are nationals of St Kitts and Nevis and are under isolation while being continuously monitored. These cases bring the total number of 2019 confirmed cases with over 195 cases in St Kitts and 14 cases in Nevis.
Out of all these cases, 64 individuals have been fully recovered with no reported death and currently, there are 145 active cases of COVID-19. Health officials initiated contact tracing of the new active cases from May 19 and have been updating as the situation unfolds.
The official statement said that the aim of contact tracing is to break the chains of COVID-19 transmission and contain the cluster of cases in the federation. It also added that Health Ministry assures people that all necessary measures are being taken to restrict the outbreak of COVID-19.
Ministry also urged the people to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines, prevention and control measures. Such as, wearing a face mask, maintenance of physical distance of at least 6 feet from other individuals at public places, washing hands and avoidance of crowded events and gatherings.
“We continue to encourage people to empower themselves with the fact about the benefits of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca Covishield vaccine and take advantage of this opportunity to get vaccinated.”
People can take vaccine jabs from St Kitts and Nevis Health Centres during weekdays Monday to Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM. The federation is making all in efforts to bring back the normalcy in the country as St Kitts and Nevis relies mostly upon tourism.
Prime Minister, Dr Timothy Harris had earlier announced a new restriction till June 26 witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.
